A Note from the Principal
We have had a fabulous start to the school year as we are beginning to settle into October while teaching and learning is in full swing. September was filled with many activities including our Freedom Walk, Falcon Five Lifeskills Kick Off, selection of STUCO officers, the start of our small group families and students applying for CHAMPS jobs. I have enjoyed making positive phone calls to families with good news when their child has received a Falcon Blue Ticket for showing an action above and beyond others. In fact, we had a BINGO and many were treated to ice cream sandwiches.
We will be having an Academic Assembly for students in grades 2 – 5 on Monday, October 28th at 2:00 pm. Students receiving all A’s in Math, Reading, Social Studies and Science will be on the Principal’s Honor Roll while those students receiving A’s & B’s in those areas will receive recognition for the Academic Honor Roll. We hope to see you there.
Also coming up will be our annual Halloween Parade on Thursday, October 31 at 2:15. We will parade indoors if the weather is bad. If you and your family don’t wish to join in the activity, you may pick up your child and they will be excused from activities. Classroom parties will follow the parade, unless the teacher has made other arrangements for the class party. Please follow the guidelines as listed below:
· Costumes are to reflect non-threatening
· Weapons and blood are not permitted.
· Students may prepare their hair at home prior to school as long as it doesn’t get in the way of student learning.
· Students will be given 10 minutes prior to the parade starting to change into their costumes. Please be mindful of what costume they bring that day.
· Principal will have the right to remove a student or an item if it is scary or threatening to other students.
· Family members are welcome to watch the parade.
Look forward to many more activities and positive phone calls home for October. You are always welcome to eat lunch and visit the classrooms. Just sign in at the office and let teacher know when you will be visiting the classroom so the teacher can make sure your time is well used.
Mrs. Becky Coy, Franklin Principal
Our next PTO meeting is 10/3/19 at 5:30 pm. You are all welcome to join us! We are excited about our family movie night 10/18/19 at 6:00 pm. We hope to see you there.
Being in school every day means your child won’t miss out on learning. Try to schedule appointments and family trips outside of school hours. If your child asks to stay home “just because,” remind him/her of what they will miss, such as reading group, science, math or PE, Music class. Explain that he/she can be absent only if they are sick or if there’s a family emergency.
A physical exam dated within one year of the first day of school is required for all students aged eight and under.
* Immunizations must be up to date and turned in upon entry to school. The school nurse will review all student shot records and contact parents with an discrepancies in requirements. Shot records must be updated within 30 days of enrollment.
* The nurse will begin vision screenings over the next couple of months. Your student will be bringing home their results and if there was anything abnormal, you will also receive a detailed print out with those results.
* If your student has asthma or any life threatening allergies, please make sure the nurse is aware and has an action plan, as well as any medications.
*If there are medications (prescribed or over-the counter) that will be taken at school, a medication permission form will need to be completed and signed/dated by you and/or physician, The form will need to accompany the medication and be dropped off in the nurse’s office. If the medication is over the counter, please have a licensed physician, dentist, nurse practitioner or physician assistant sign/date the form. Even cough drops have to go through this process.
If you have any questions about the above information please contact our school nurse, Callie Jones at (785)717-4380
